110MW Khulna power plant out of order again

The 110 megawatt power plant of Khulna, put into operation on Monday morning after necessary repairing, again went out of order on Tuesday night due to major leakages in boiler tubes.Neither Western Zone Power Distribution Company (WZPD) nor Goalpara Power Station (GPS) was able to comment on when the power plant would start to generate electricity. The power plant last went out of order on June 27 just after half-an-hour of going into operation. The plant is also undergoing major repairing of boiler tubes at a cost of Tk 2 crore, said an engineer of GPS. The 110MW plant used to generate only 55MW electricity a day giving some relief to the city dwellers who have been experiencing unbearable load shedding.
