Work on Chaktai Mariners Road begins

Work on the construction of Chaktai Mariners Road along the Chaktai canal, the backbone of the port city, was inaugurated yesterday. Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) is implementing the Tk 6 crore project financed by the government to construct 12-km-long roads on both sides of the canal stretching from Chamrergudam to Bahodderhat. Acting mayor Manjurul Alam and CDA Chairman Shah Mohammad Akhter Uddin jointly inaugurated the work. The project has been taken up as an emergency step to help smooth passage of drain water through Chaktai canal following June 11 landslides.
