Child trafficker caught red-handed


A child trafficker was caught red-handed while trying to abduct a six-year-old boy at Boro Achra village in Benapole yesterday morning.

The child trafficker was identified as Abdur Rahim Badshah, 35.

Police sources said Ayesha Khatun along with her son Rasul went to a tubewell to bring some water that morning.

While they were returning, Badshah appeared out of nowhere and tried to snatch Rasul away. As Ayesha started screaming, locals rushed to the scene and nabbed him.

He was later handed over to police after a mob beating.

Spurious fertiliser seized

Police seized 100 sacks of spurious fertiliser at Balunda village in Benapole yesterday.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided the house of one Sakhina Begum and recovered the fertiliser.

However, Sakhina Begum managed to escape the scene.
