BCL calls student Strike today though banned

Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of Awami League (AL), has called a strike at all educational institutions of the country today protesting the arrest of Sheikh Hasina although enforcing any strike is banned during the state of emergency.

In a press release signed by BCL Office Secretary Nasim Al Momin Rupok yesterday, BCL President Mahmud Hasan Ripon and Acting General Secretary Shahinur Rahman Tutul demanded immediate release of the former prime minister.

JUBO LEAGUE
AL's youth front Jubo League will stage demonstrations across the country today protesting the arrest of Awami League President Sheikh Hasina.

Jubo League Chairman Jahangir Kabir Nanak and General Secretary Mirza Azam in a joint statement yesterday demanded release of their leader within 72 hours. Otherwise, they threatened to announce a greater agitation programme.

They apprehended that the democratic and secular politics of the country would be at stake following her arrest in a "false" case.
