Seven people were killed and 29 others injured in separate road accidents in Magura, Satkhira, Netrakona and Faridpur yesterday.Our Correspondent in Magura reports: Two people were killed in a collision between a covered van and a pick-up on Magura-Jessore highway in Magura Sadar upazila in the early hours of yesterday. The dead were identified as Idris Ali, 45, driver of the covered van and Farid, 32, helper of the pick-up. The accident occurred in Moghi area at around 4:00am as the driver of the Dhaka-bound covered van lost control of the vehicle and hit the pick-up from behind, the police said quoting the local people. Police seized both the vehicles and sent he bodies to hospital for autopsy. Our Correspondent in Satkhira reports: Two people were killed in separate road accidents in the district. One of the victims is 60-year-old Abdur Rahim Gain. He was standing on roadside at Khanpur bus stand in Shyanmnagar when a bus crashed into him, police said quoting local people. Seriously injured Rahim died on way to Shyamnagar upazila health complex. The other victim, Subhas Sarkar, 40, was travelling in a pick-up that overturned at Shubhasini in Tala upazila on Satkhira-Khulna road in the afternoon, leaving him seriously injured. He succumbed to his injuries on the way to Satkhira hospital. Our Correspondent in Netrakona adds: One person was crushed to death under the wheels of a speeding bus on Dhaka-Netrakona highway at Narandia in Purbadhala. The victim, Harun Mia, 18, was crossing the road when the Netrakona-bound bus of 'Green Line Service' knocked him down at around 2:00pm, police and witnesses said. Police seized the bus, but the driver managed to escape. Meanwhile, 25 people were injured in another road accident on Netrakona-Aatpara road at Panchkahnia in Netrakona sadar upazila at about 3:00 pm. Police said a Netrakona-bound passenger bus from Aatpara fell into a roadside ditch, leaving 25 people injured. Seriously injured Abdul Hakim, Raham Ali, Insab Mia, Kalachand and Shariful Islam were sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. UNB adds: Two people were killed and four others injured when a bus overturned on Dhaka-Khulna highway in Bhanga. Local sources said the Dhaka-bound bus from Bagerhat overturned at Pulia at about 3:00am as its driver lost control of the vehicle, killing the two on the spot. The dead were identified as bus driver Rabiul Islam, 28, and passenger Nasiruddin, 41. The injured were admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
