Police said, a group of criminals numbering five went to the house of Abdul Mannan at Shaympur village in Sadar upazila, Meherpur at about 3.30:am. They picked up his son Hamidul, 40, a businessman, at gunpoint. Then they demanded Tk 2 lakh ransom from the family members for his release.
