British actress Sienna Miller, best known for her roles in films, Alfie and Factory Girls, has teamed up with Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan in a campaign against global warming and climate change.Miller met Bachchan in Mumbai, kicking off her weeklong sojourn in India as an ambassador for "Global Cool", an organisation that spreads awareness about global warming. The two actors star along with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and actress Heather Graham in a film for Global Cool that was screened at the India International Film Academy (IIFA) awards event in Yorkshire last month. Miller, who has also acted in movies like Casanova and Layer Cake, said films can make a big difference in raising awareness about environment. "If each one of us does our bit, we will be helping to keep global warming from harming our countries," she added. People, she pointed out, could help by turning their air conditioners down by even one degree or by turning of phone chargers and other electronic gadgets when they are not being used. "I find there is so much we can do for the environment. I'm happy to be part of the campaign to combat global warming," said the actress. Miller, who has hogged the limelight for her on-and-off relationship with ex-fiancé Jude Law, said she does not enjoy her celebrity status, at least not in the way British tabloid newspapers have portrayed her to be. "But I have learnt to manipulate my celebrity status to my advantage," she said. "For example, if I'm wearing a Global Cool T-shirt and if I'm being photographed, it's good publicity for the organisation", Miller said. She said she would like to work with Amitabh Bachchan in Bollywood on the subject of global warming. Miller, on her second visit to India, has seen some of Bollywood movies, including a few starring Amitabh. Amitabh announced that IIFA would partner with Global Cool to increase knowledge about greenhouse gas emissions. "Carbon emissions will be huge from countries like India and China with growing population and economy," he said, adding, "it will, therefore, be wise to start doing whatever we can to protect our planet".
