Khaleda warns against party rebels, corrupt leaders
Unb, Dhaka
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has warned of stern action against party leaders whose involvement in corruption will be proved and also those conspiring to break the party."Stern actions will be taken against those (party leaders) whose involvement in corruption will be proved and at the same time those who are conspiring to break the party," she said in a teleconference with Japan BNP leaders on Sunday night. Criticising the interim government, the former prime minister said, "Arrests are being made at whim and extortion cases are filed against them after the arrest. This should be stopped in the interest of democracy." Describing the achievements of BNP during its rule, Khaleda said, "BNP was in power for 15 years after independence. But, I didn't make any wealth." Khaleda said she is ready to make any sacrifice for the country and its people. "Keep vigil so that the country's democracy is not threatened, human rights are not violated, independence and sovereignty are not compromised and the path to get justice is not blocked." About taking actions against those who are "conspiring" to break the party, the BNP chairperson said, "BNP is a big democratic party. Its roots are widely spread. So it's not possible to break the party." She said, "I'm ready to make any sacrifice. I've left everything to Allah and the people of our country. Allah is the good judge and the people of the country never made mistake in the past and I believe they won't do in the future too."
