Losing habitat

Picture
A herd of wild elephants feed in Fashiakhali forest of Mirinja Range under Cox's Bazar Forest Department. A number of local wild elephants usually migrate among Chunoti, Fashiakhali and the border with Myanmar. Experts say 350-400 such elephants are suffering from habitat loss as hills have been cut and villages and towns have been built on their migration paths forcing some herds to stay in isolated pockets.
