Punitive actions against 30 UP representatives

The government has taken punitive actions against 30 representatives of union parishads (UP) on various charges during the last six months, says a press release. Of them, 19 were chairmen and the rest members. Actions were taken against them on charges of corruption, abuse of power, violence against women, going to other countries illegally and for being absent in three consecutive meetings. Two chairmen were removed, two offices were declared vacant and other fifteen were suspended. Offices of 11 members were declared vacant. The government would also take actions as per law against 39 Pourashava chairmen, who are now detained under various charges.
