Mugger caught red-handed


A traffic constable caught a mugger and recovered Tk 2.2 lakh from his possession at Khligaon in the city yesterday.

Traffic constable Md Alamgir with the help of local people caught Shahjahan, 30, as he tried to flee after snatching the money from Jashim, the manager of Rakhi Food, at around 1:40pm.

The police said the mugger with a knife attacked Jashim when he along with another person was going to a bank in the area by a rickshaw to deposit the money.

As Jashim raised an alarm, the traffic constable with the help of local people caught the mugger.

A case was filed with the Khilgaon police station.
