Land Grabbing
Tasmima sued

A case was filed with Joydebpur Police Station against Tasmima Hossain, wife of Jatiya Party Chairman Anwar Hossain Monju, on Sunday night on charge of grabbing Roads and Highways (R & H) land at Chhoto Govindapur in Gazipur.

Mohammad Firoz Iqbal, executive engineer of the Roads and Highways (R & H) in Manikganj, filed the case.

In the First Information Report (FIR), the complainant alleged that Aziz Textile Mill, owned by Tasmima, occupied a piece of plot of the R & H at Chhoto Govindapur in Gazipur Sadar in 1988 and built structures on it.

Firoz in his complaint said Tasmima occupied the land using the influence of her husband Anwar Hossain Monju who was a minister at that time.

He said the R & H department served notices on the occupants on 27 April 2005 and January 22 this year to vacate the land.

The occupants gave death threat to the R & H officials and employees following the instruction of Tasmima when they went to the plot to drive out the illegal occupants on January 30, Firoz added.

Officer-in-Charger of Joydebpur Police Station confirmed the filing of the case against Tasmima.
