Swanan observes first death anniversary of Shamsur Rahman


At the Shawkat Osman Memorial Hall, Public Library, the audience witnessed mesmerising performances by the young artistes of the recital organisation, Swanan. Swanan celebrated the first death anniversary of poet Shamsur Rahman with the programme titled "Niraloke Dibyalok" on July 21.

Shamsur Rahman's poetry represents a sparkling mingling of dream and reality which shows a new horizon of aesthetics. The poems titled "Bornomala, amar dukhini bornomala", "Asader shirt", "Tomake pabar jonyo he swadhinata" and many more are considered as an eternal inspiration for this country. His humanitarian philosophy made it possible to unite the social context of Bangladesh with the universal.

In the programme, artistes rendered 32 selected poems of Shamsur Rahman among which there were "Kokhono amar maa ke", "Jodi tumi fire naa asho", " Masterdar haat ghari", "Deshdrohi hote ichcha kore", "Beauty Boarding" "Puraner paakhi", "Asader shirt" "Tomake pabar jonyo he swadhinata" and many more.

The programme featured performances by Maskur A Sattar Kollol, president of Swanan(Dhaka), Ananya Laboni, Shuvra Das, Tuku Mojniul , Kamal Chowdhury and others. Swanan began its journey in 1981 at Rajshahi University.
