Fruit seller killed

A fruit seller was killed in front of hundreds of people at the court intersection of Jessore town on Wednesday.

The victim was identified as Asgar Ali, 40, son of late Saleh Gazi of Masna village under Monirampur upazila of the district.

Eyewitnesses said Asgar was selling guava sitting in front of the Judge Court Line at around 10:00am when Badal, son of Nitai Chandra of Stadium Para, took away a big guava by force.

Later at around 11:00am, he again came back and tried to have another one.

But Badal resisted this time, and at one stage of altercation Badal stabbed him indiscriminately and left the scene.

Asgar fell down on the ground.

Locals rushed him to Jessore General Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Deceased's wife Rashida Khatun filed a murder case with Kotwali Police Station and demanded exemplary punishment to the killer.
