Emirates flight fails to take off on schedule

A Dubai bound Emirates flight at Zia International Airport (ZIA) failed to take off on schedule last night due to technical glitches. The flight EK-585, which was to take off at 9:30pm, could not depart as of filing of this report at 12:30am, leaving around 300 passengers stranded at ZIA. "One of the crew made an announcement at around 10:15pm, saying that it would take 40 to 50 minutes to repair the faults, but till now there is no news," Dr Reza Khan, one of the passengers, told The Daily Star at 12:20am. Despite repeated attempts, The Daily Star correspondent could not reach any Emirates officials.
