The three-day World Cyber Games (WCG) 2007 Bangladesh Championship, the biggest computer gaming tournament in Bangladesh, kicked off at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in the city yesterday. WCG Bangladesh Country Manager Mohammad Irfan Hussain inaugurated the contest that will end on July 29. F1 Management Ltd is the strategic partner of the competition while Djuice is the official sponsor of this event. More than 1200 participants from across the country have taken part in the competition this year, surpassing previous records, organisers said. This year two games -- Need for Speed Carbon and FIFA 07 -- have been selected for the Bangladesh Championship and participants will go one on one for a place in the next round, they added. Among them, two winners will represent Bangladesh in the Grand Finals of the WCG to be held in Seattle in USA in October that offers prize money of $1 million, organisers said. About 700 gamers from 70 countries are expected to participate in the WCG Grand Finals.
