RMG worker commits suicide in Ctg


A worker reportedly committed suicide by jumping from the rooftop of a six-storey garments factory in the port city yesterday.

The victim identified as Shafiqul Islam, 22, son of Mohammad Ali of Durgapur under Netrakona was a worker of Clifton Garments in Bayezid area.

Sources said Safiqul went his workplace as usual and wore his official dress to join the work on the top floor of the building.

He jumped from the rooftop at around 8:30am and met tragic end, police said.

Police suspected that Shafiqul committed suicide following a family feud.

Quoting victim's father Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdul Matin of Bayezid Police Station said Shafiqul engaged in a family quarrel in the morning before leaving his residence at Rekha Colony in Enayet Bazar.

Matin said the recorded footage by the close circuit television (CCTV) in the factory showed that Shafiqul jumped from the rooftop and none was with him at the moment.
