Cargo vessel sinks in Meghna

A cargo ship, carrying 800 sacks of urea fertilizer and 50 sacks of rice, sank due to inclement weather in the Meghna River in Borhanuddin upazila yesterday.Sources said the ship, 'Baba Lichu Shah', anchored near Hakim Uddin Bazaar in Borhanuddin upazila at about 2:00 am. The ship sank after it was suddenly caught by a violent storm. It was heading towards Monpura upazila from Bhola Sadar carrying the fertilizer of Momota Enterprise. In another incident, a fishing trawler carrying 16 fishermen capsized at Kachchapia in Charfashion upazila yesterday noon. Thirteen of the fishermen were rescued by coastguards while three remained missing.
