Biman pays 70pc of benefits to retired staffs

Biman Bangladesh Airlines Ltd paid 70 per cent of the benefits to its 1,877 retired employees in the first installment as of yesterday.

The employees went on retirement under a voluntary scheme recently.

The money of the provident fund will be given tomorrow, a Biman press release said.

Rest of the dues will be paid after approval of the finance ministry, the release added.

Some 1,877 employees of Biman went on self-retirement in July under the voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) as part of turning the national flag career into a public limited company.
