The Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate's Court yesterday again issued a show cause to Investigation Officer (IO) Anwar Hossain, in-charge of the sensational abduction and murder case of business tycoon and BNP leader Jamal Uddin Ahmed, as his response to the previous show cause was not satisfactory and did not accept the charge sheet submitted by the IO. Magistrate of the court Mohammed Akram Hossain reprimanded IO Anwar, an Inspector of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and ordered to respond against the show cause within three days. Earlier, the IO submitted his response to the previous show cause on July 23 - which was issued on July 17 for not including Kala Mahabub as a state witness. Magistrate Mohammed Akram Hossain accepted the 'naraji petition' (no confidence) and ordered for further investigation in the case before submitting the charge sheet, court sources said. The court yesterday also ordered the additional inspector general of CID to appoint an honest and unbiased officer as the IO for the case, added the court sources. The police pressed charges on July 10 against 16 accused, including prime suspects Kashem Chairman, Shahid Chairman and Kala Mahbub. The first hearing of the case was held on July 23, sources said. Jamal Uddin was abducted on his way home at Chandgaon on July 24, 2003. He was later murdered. The Rapid Action Battalion dug out his skeleton from a remote village in Fatikchhari on August 24 last year and a DNA test of the remains later confirmed it was of Jamal Uddin's.
