WI contract row settled

The West Indies Cricket Board's (WICB) dispute with players has been settled ahead of next month's tri-series with India and Australia in Malaysia and Singapore.

WICB will pay players 600,000 dollars for four games and 300,000 dollars for reaching the final.

The board will also pay an additional 100,000 dollars for four preliminary matches and 50,000 dollars if the squad reaches the final next month.

The administrators and players pledged to work together in a joint statement.

Contract negotiations threatened to turn ugly last week when the board claimed that the West Indies Players Association's salary demands were "totally unreasonable".

It approached players individually and went ahead and named a 14-man squad.

Wicketkeeper Carlton Baugh replaces Denesh Ramdin in the squad despite Ramdin's impressive performance in the Test series against India.

Lara, who apologised over his comments on team selection, will continue to lead the squad.

Fast bowler Fidel Edwards returns after missing the last three Tests against India because of a hamstring injury.

SQUAD
Brian Lara (captain), Ramnaresh Sarwan, Chris Gayle, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Runako Morton, Dwayne Bravo, Dwayne Smith, Carlton Baugh, Corey Collymore, Fidel Edwards, Ian Bradshaw, Jerome Taylor, Marlon Samuels, Wavell Hinds.
