JS body asks edn ministry to implement govt assurances

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the government assurances at a meeting yesterday asked the Ministry of Education to take immediate measures for implementation of various government commitments.The commitments include modernisation and improvement of madrasa education, removal of salary discrepancies of the general and madrasa teachers and giving Fazil and Kamil the status of bachelor and master degrees respectively. The meeting was held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, presided over by committee Chairman Moulana Abdus Subhan. Progress in implementing assurances given by the Education Ministry in the 8th parliament came up for discussion during the meeting, an official handout said. The meeting was told that the government has already given permission to open science department at madrasa level along with introduction of time-befitting curriculum and computer and vocational education. The committee members expressed their satisfaction over the liberal outlook of present government for registration of school, college and madrasa under the Monthly Payment Order (MPO), the handout said.
