Noted scientist and former director of the Institute of Food Science and Technology Dr Kazi AKM Nurul Haq died of kidney ailments at his Mirpur residence on August 8 at the age of 72.

He is survived by his wife, four daughters, a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.

Dr Nurul Haq was buried at his family graveyard at Rahmatpur village in Muktagachha of Mymensingh district.

Syeda Aliza Mamtaz, wife of Chittagong Press Club (CPC) General Secretary Kalim Sarwar, passed away due to kidney diseases at a clinic in the port city yesterday at the age of 35.

She left behind her husband, two daughters and a host of relatives to mourn her death.

She was buried at the Noor Nagar graveyard at Bakalia area.

Leaders of the CPC and Chittagong Union of Journalists (CUJ) in separate statements expressed profound shock at her death and prayed for salvation of the departed soul.

On the occasion, a milad mahfil will be held at the CPC auditorium after Asr prayers today.

Relatives and admirers have been requested to attend the mahfil.


Rafia Rasul
Rafia Rasul, wife of Chowdhury Ataul Shafru of 26/B Topkhana Road in the city, passed away due to cancer on August 9 at the age of 48, says a press release.

She was under treatment at Mumbai.

She left behind her husband, son and daughter.

Her namaz-e-janaza will be held at the Segun Bagicha Kacha Bazar Mosque after Juma prayers today.
