2 of a family killed in Comilla road crash
Two people were killed and three injured -- all five from the same family -- when their car fell into a ditch on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Daudkandi upazila of Comilla Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Nurul Alam, 48, owner of a printing press at Arambagh in Dhaka, and his son Omar Farooque Babu, 20.
Nurul’s wife Nasima Akhter and their daughters -- Fahmida Nasrin and Nargis Fatema -- were admitted to Gouripur Hospital in Daudkandi with severe injuries, reports our Comilla correspondent.
The accident took place in Raypur Dighirpar area around 2:45pm when the driver lost control of the vehicle, leaving the two dead on the spot and injuring the three others, Daudkandi highway police Inspector Raisuddin Ahmed told The Daily Star.
Later police recovered the bodies and the car, he added.
The family was returning to Dhaka after celebrating Eid at their village home in Feni.
A case was filed in connection with the incident.
