Inter-department debate competition at CUET

'We enlighten, we debate' with this slogan the newest batch of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology Debating Society (CUETDS) organized an inter-department debate competition 2006. From the four departments total 8 team participated in the competition that started on the 20th September.

The final was held in the university's seminar hall on 23 September. The topic of the debate was' Harry Porter-der agrasone amader desher Dalim Kumarra hariya jaccha'.

For the motion was electrical engineering department's 'Network' team's Abijeet Rai, Pritam Ghosh and Sadia Tasmin. Against the motion were mechanical engineering departments 'Robotix' team's Pranay Barua, Mohammad Shahadat Islam and Mohammad Sakibul Hasan.

Associate Professor & Head of mechanical department Dr. Bodius Salam, Assistant Professor Shyamal Acharya, lecturer GM Sadiqul Islam and Aysha Akter attended as judges at the final.

In this exciting and competitive final, the Robotix team defeated Network team with a marginal difference. The best speaker was winning team's captain Sakibul Hasan.

In the second round, on the tropic' tomar jonno ai prithivi aj.......... ', a barowary debate increased the excitement of the debate lovers.

Although six speakers took part in this but Mahfuzur Rahman was declared the best speaker in this round.

The program was presided over by professor Dr. Shyamal Kanti Biswas. In the awarding ceremony, the chief guest was university vice chancellor professor Dr. Mir Shahidul Islam. Special guest was professor Shamsul Islam.

The president of CUETDS Abu Raihan Rakib encouraged the newcomers to be good debaters. Faisal Rabbi hosted the whole program.
