Picnic 2008: A superb get-together of MIS Students at Nuhash Polli
Feeda Hasan Shahed
ON 14th March, the Department Of MIS (DU) arranged a picnic party for students. All the students from different batches along with four faculty members of the department took the day off to be amidst nature. Department Chair Professor Hasibur Rashid, Professor Abdul Hannan Mia, Associate Professor Md. Moqbul Hossain Bhuiyan and Assistant Professor Md. Abul Kashem were the faculty members who joined the students in the day long picnic.
The journey began early in the morning at 8.30 a.m. with cheers and whistles of the jubilant MIS people who were looking forward to enjoying a day with friends and classmates. The MBA 4th batch who are about to graduate within the next four months were actively involved in organizing different events. The bus became a mad house with singing, laughing, shouting, screaming and non-stop talking.
When we reached the destination Nuhash Polli at 10:30 AM students became overtly excited. Some of them jumped through the windows, some ran out and some kept dancing while getting down. Entering the main arena everybody got scattered to discover the beauty of the picnic spot. After a while cultural events took place.
Around noon, when everybody was in a relaxing mood, the MBA 4th batch students created a striking colorful environment by dancing wildly with the music from the sound system. This slowly got everyone grooving to the tracks. The dance continued for the next one hour. After resting for a while lunch was served that included delicious dishes. The dance helped generate enough hunger in students to devour plenty of food.
Later in the afternoon, events like Musical Chair, Brain Teasers, 'Hari Vanga' and Cultural Events: Popular songs, Adhunik, Bhaoaia, Bhatiali and Pop took place. And in the end a Raffle Draw was held.
The most significant part of arranging such a picnic was to create a social interaction and understanding among the students from different batches and from different programs like BBA, MBA and EMBA. The EMBA students of the MIS department were responsible for arranging the picnic. As students were returning to the buses one by one, their happy faces described that they enjoyed each individual event and the picnic in general.
