Buet-07 level completion extravaganza

HURRAH! We are finally sophomores! We, the very proud 2007 batch completed our one year of study at BUET the April of this year (which according to BUET lingo is called “Level-1 Completion”). Nothing could make us more happier than the feeling of being seniors to the freshmen of 2008 batch. The fact that we were no longer the targets of the weird interrogations from the campus seniors could not be any more appeasing to us.

That was not all. We all decided to commemorate the very day of our level completion with something solely inimitable in its true sense. After weeks of brainstorming and hardwork from our peers, the unanimous decision was that our day of celebration would be 23rd April 2009. On the auspicious morning of 23rd April, the day long gala was officially inaugurated by Dr. Munaz Ahmed Noor, Associate Professor, Department of Civil Engineering. The inauguration was paralleled by the launching of the website

www.buet07.org for our very own batch officially named “LUBDHOK-07”.

At 10.30am we all dressed up in our white attires bearing the name of our batch and took part in the grand rally that traversed the whole perimeter of the BUET campus. The rally ended at around 11.30am. With a short lunch break at 1pm, the festivity commenced at 2.30 in the afternoon with amazing game shows which continued for atleast two to three hours. But, the prime attraction of the celebration was yet to be revealed. At around 4pm the long awaited grand concert began in the BUET gymnasium with an inaugural speech from Dr. Shamim Z. Bosunia, Professor, Department of Civil Engineering. No words can express the deepest gratitude to Dr. Maglub Al Noor , honourable director of Directorate of Student's Welfare, whose long expected consent made the organisation of the concert possible.

The performers in the concert included underground bands like CREAMATIC-X, SHADOW OF NIGHTFALL, BIPROTIPE, INANIMATE, CSE07 and so on, but the showstopper of the event was none other than ARTCELL. They performed in the late hours of the concert and presented before us, their best hits. The whole gymnasium was filled with an ecstatic crowd swaying their heads to Artcell's aggressive beats and riffs. Artcell's performance was something truly worthy as an ending to the whole event. A final token of appreciation goes to all of the valued sponsors (BSRM steel, Navana group, Energypac, Cosmos, Udvash, Bashundhara group and Shyamoli paribahan) and to the media partner (Radio Amar 88.4FM) of the event. Had it not been for their timely assistance, we could have never opted to organize a festival of such monumental scale.

Finally thanks go to all of our batchmates, whose mutual efforts made the event a successful one overall. We hope we shall remain united for ever. Long live LUBDHOK-07!
