Battle of Minds road shows roll on

Star Campus Desk

IN today's jet-setting world, the increasingly competitive corporate setting offers only a few real life opportunities for individuals to get exposure to the corporate world. Companies that provide individuals with opportunities to compete with one another to be a part of this corporate world are a breath of fresh air for the graduates of tomorrow. British American Tobacco Bangladesh, one of the leading multinational companies, plays a central role in developing the nation's talents through Battle of Minds, a competition for graduating students .

BAT Bangladesh has been organising this inter-university competition since 2004, soon making the event a legacy of British American Tobacco all around Asia Pacific. Building great minds for tomorrow is the ultimate objective of this competition. This is the platform where students from various business and engineering schools come together with an aspiration to be noticed amongst the best potential recruits of their time.

Over the years, the competition has evolved to include contemporary issues to provide talented individuals a medium to display entrepreneurial acumen by working over the issues related to CSR. Furthermore, the team based exposure to real life business cases and activities is one of its kind which enables potential graduates to prepare for the extremely competitive job market.

The students from DU IBA, NSU, Dhaka University Management Department, Dhaka University Finance Department, Dhaka University Marketing Department, Khulna University, IUT, BAU, JU, SUST, CU, EWU, AIUB, IUB, BRAC and BUET are taking part this year's Battle of Minds.

Battle of Minds 2009 aims to do something different for the participants this year by introducing an online portal for students to register and thus removing the limitation for the number of applications.

The event kicked off with road shows in top universities starting from 17th October. During these road shows, the participants were introduced to the challenges that they were expected to face in order to qualify through the rounds and win the title. The alumni for each university working in BAT Bangladesh started the day with an inspirational epic of experiences with BAT Bangladesh.
Unlike the grooming session at one go at the end of road shows, this year's Battle of Minds gave the participants opportunities to join grooming sessions at the end of each road show hosted in universities, customised according to requirements of each participating institution.

The road show at IBA this year kicked off on 22nd of October with lively narrative by Jahid Shafique, one of the 2006 Battle of Minds participants from IBA currently working as Corporate HR Executive with BAT Bangladesh. From the narrative, students came to know about BAT and its operations all over the world. Moreover, they got a clear view about the development opportunities BAT provides to its human asset all around the globe.

The competition would be at its peak during the grand finale in the month of November with yet another difference brought by BAT Bangladesh.
