A Visit to Chittagong Stock Exchange

A five day long study tour of MBM 12th batch students of BIBM (Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management) was held during 30th October to 4th November, which included visit to Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE). The prime activities of the exchange are to conduct, regulate and control the trade or business of buying, selling and dealing in shares, stocks, bonds, debentures, govt. papers and any other instruments and securities of like nature. It is also involved in disseminating information to investors by publishing quarterly “Portfolio”, monthly “Bazar Parikrama” and other necessary publication.

37 students of MBM 12th batch participated in the study tour. Atul Chandra Pandit and Md. Shahidullah, program officer of MBM Program, accompanied the students in this study tour. On 4th November we visited CSE. Dr. Md. Abdullah Mamun, CEO of CSE inaugurated the session with his exclusive speech. Then ASM Shahidullah gave us a presentation about the mission, vision and objectives of CSE. In the discussion session A B Siddique, the former CEO of CSE, helped us by responding different issues regarding the stock market. Later on the instructors from CSE and chiefs from different department briefed us about significant department of CSE.

As a part of the study tour, we visited quite a few tourist spots such as Saint Martin, Coxs's bazaar, Mohesh khali and Coxs's bazaar safari park etc.
