Janmashtami in frames

In a country where people from many different religions and cultures live in harmony, there is no end to the diverse festivities that we witness around us. One such important event is the Janmashtami, which was recently celebrated with much fervour this year.

Janmashtami is the joyful celebration of Lord Krishna's birth. Major celebrations of Krishna Janmashtami takes place at midnight as Krishna is said to have made his divine appearance in that hour. Fasting, poojas and many other rituals mark Janmashtami celebrations.

This year, the celebration programme included the worship of Lord Krishna, pooja, rendition of kirtan, dance, discussions, drama and a traditional Janmashtami peace procession that was brought out from the Dhakeswari Temple.
