Elegance redefined

Grace is a men's hair and body care salon at Uttara. This simple introduction will not suffice for the surprise that it is. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Rabindra Sarani in a quiet alley, this simple looking salon opens its door to chic and classy clients whose priority in life is comfort.

The salon is not the typical commercial affair, rather the ambience insists that you relax and pamper yourself. Grooming is very much a part of men today; having themselves given up on the scruffy look in favour of the taken care of appearance.

As a result we see the rise of the metro-sexual man, and to cater to these modern men and also to the ones yet to learn the basics of keeping oneself neat and tidy, Grace offers its services.

You walk in and find yourself in a smoking lounge that is almost as comfortable as the one you have at home, with the veranda and surrounding greenery lending a happy feel. Once you open the door you are greeted by friendly staff in uniform; if you are a non-smoker then your lounge is right there. The reception desk takes care of arranging for you the services you want to avail; like hair cut, hair treatment, hair spa and dye, facials, body massage, foot massage and pedicures and manicures.

“Grace opened for business last December,” says Rashida A Islam, a schoolteacher by profession.

“The ambience is masculine, with soft jazz as background music and colour code strictly sticking to mahogany, black, beige and white, we tried to keep it straight and simple avoiding anything frilly,” explains Islam for whom and her partner, Tariqul Islam, the salon has become a serious side project.

Once you step into Grace you can instantly feel that love and can comfortably settle in, to relax and pamper yourself for a change. “I love the black and white theme, the staff uniform is very classy and most importantly the chairs are comfy, so I know my dad will not have a backache,” wrote one very satisfied client on the comment book.

Children, students with ID cards, even women waiting for their sons or husbands can avail Grace's services. The price range is reasonably affordable starting at Tk.130, including VAT, to a maximum Tk.1200 for full body wash followed by scrub cream massage. So for Uttara men, a bad hair day is no longer the excuse to look out of sync.
