STAR LIFESTYLE'S BAISHAKHI ALBUM

Baishakhi colours @ Chondon

Chandana Dewan, renowned fashion designer and owner of boutique Chondon, has introduced a Baishakh collection in which she worked mostly with cotton with appliqué being the dominant design technique. The wardrobe for Star Lifestyle's Baishakh photo shoot has been taken from Dewan's collection, which is available at both outlets at prices starting from Tk.1200.

The material for the red sari is crepe silk with a matching blouse, but the clincher is the beautiful appliqué work running along its border. Appliqué is the common embellishment that runs through the collection and is at times used innovatively, as in the case of the white shalwar kameez which sports a mask as design.

Local handloom sari

For the brave at heart, go the extra mile (literally) and take a road trip to the sari haats of Tangail and Pabna. No better way to indulge in a spontaneous adventure that is true to our heritage and if you're lucky and willing to look very closely, you might even steal some great buys without causing any severe damage to your wallet.
