Marking its second anniversary, Proteeti Sangeet Bidyayatan arranged a special programme featuring music, dance and recitation at the main auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum on October 29. The event was titled "Sur-er Guru, Dao Go Sur-er Dikkha".
Students and teachers of the school performed songs of Tagore, Nazrul, Atul Prasad, Mukanda Das, Jasim Uddin and others at the event. Artistes of Nrityanchal presented three dance compositions while noted elocutionist Shimul Mustapha recited several poems.
A group rendition of the Tagore song, "Sur-er Guru", kicked off the programme. A group presentation of a chhoto khayal on Raga Behag was next. Other group renditions included Tagore songs, "Shiter Hawar Laglo Nachon" and "Aaji Momo Mon"; Nazrul songs, "Sheuli Tola-e Bhor Bela-e" and "Joi Hok"; Atul Prasad's "Mora Nachi Phooley Phooley"; Mukanda Das' "Ekhono Photeni Aankhi Jaar" and Jasim Uddin's "Nao Chhariya Dey".
Minu and Upoma performed a duet, "Ke Eshey Jaye Phirey Phirey" while Nrityanchal artistes danced to the songs "Akash Bhora Shurjo Tara", "Shamal Shamal" and more at the event.
Principal of Proteeti Sangeet Bidyayatan, Monsura Begum, rendered a Rabindra Sangeet, "Haye Otithi Ekhoni Ki Holo Tomar" while a teacher of the school, Bizon Chandra Mistry performed a Nazrul song "Padmar Dheu Rey".
Asit Biswas on esraj, Iftekhar Alam Prodhan on tabla, Dalim Barua on keyboard and Debashish on mondira instrumentally accompanied the singers.
