Making Changes

We hope you had a great Victory Day this year. We'd also like to wish our readers Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Whatever the changes are that you hope to make to your life in the coming year, we hope you achieve them. As for us, Star Insight is hoping to jump to 32 pages in size starting next year. We need support from all our readers for this. Please send us your write-ups and letters, along with photographs that portray the Bangladesh that most city-dwellers don't get to see in their everyday lives. All of Insight's regular sections will be there and more. So that's the change we're making here: get a little bigger and a little better.

December is the month Bangladesh achieved independence, although not without a tremendous loss of life. Our cover story is on just one of so many of the intellectuals martyred right before we achieved independence. It's not a new story, but it's just a small way of honouring them. Fans of bright colours should look at the profile on artist Raghunath Chakraborty. He uses watercolour on canvas and works to keep alive the nostalgia of all these things from our folk culture that are gradually getting lost.
