Photo: Sazzad Ibne Sayed EDITOR'S NOTE 600 million people visit Facebook everyday. The staggering enormity of the number itself can be realized by putting it into perspective. Think of it like this -- if Facebook were a nation, it would be the third most populous country in the world, just behind China and India and almost double its closest competitor, the United States. But this raises the vital question; What does Facebook have to do with youth? Almost everything since its founder, Mark Zuckerberg, is just 27. He was 20 when he launched the site. Young people are doing great things everyday. Even right here in Bangladesh. But unfortunately with the way the world is, a lot of these achievements fall under the cracks, not recognized, hardly feted. Not that this has stopped people from attempting to change the world they live in, in whatever little way possible. Over the last few weeks, The Daily Star has spent a large amount of time and resources to try to locate a few such individuals; Bangladeshis who have made a positive change or set themselves apart, be it in the field of arts, science, technology, entrepreneurship and many others. This supplement and the two that preceded it is the product of that research. Today we focus on the fields of social activism, entrepreneurship, science and technology and sports. But before you turn these pages, it is important to remember that any such research comes with a disclaimer. The list here does not aim to be definitive. There will be a great number of people who we might have missed, many of whom may be doing exceptional work. So if you are one of that particular group do not be disheartened this is just a start and The Daily Star has every intention to continue to update this list over time. So please read on to find the change-makers of tomorrow. As they say, the future is now.
