As a layman, I guess the regime will regain some popularity if it acts on principle in some of these areas:

Two books
This letter is in response to Yasmeen Murshed's introduction of two books by MJ Akbar under the caption 'Jehad and Fanaticism' published in the Point Counterpoint on March 20, 04 issue of The Daily Star.
 
Role of opposition
Bangladesh is not a large country in the world map. Its area is very small but its population is very big. We achieved independence 33 years ago, but we have failed to develop a viable political culture.
 
Opposition stand
In the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of United Nations-it is clearly stated how a democratic government should govern its own people.
