Teachers, primary education and the budget
We have witnessed recently the disgraceful spectacle of demonstrating teachers of non-govt. primary schools being clubbed and injured by police, and teachers on hunger strike lying on the street.
 
Primary schooling in disarray
Education in our schools and colleges has turned out to be a wasteful exercise, leaving the young learners handicapped and ill-suited to face the grueling test of life.
 
Producing rice in sustainable way
It has been reported (Far Eastern Agriculture January/February, 2004) that the United Nations has launched a major international drive to increase the production of rice.
