Foreighn Students in our Campus

US students participate in IUB's academic programme

Fifteen students from different universities and colleges of Minnesota, USA, under the auspices of US Higher Educational Consortium for Urban Affiairs (HECUA), participated in IUB's academic programme “Live-in-Field Experience” this year. This is an annual academic study programme under a collaborative agreement between HECUA and IUB. This is the only university in the country which has introduced this month-long academic programme in which such a large number of overseas students study rural community in Bangladesh every year.

This year the subject of study was “Development Community in Bangladesh” and the US students studied the rural life, culture, religion, environment, economic structure, village government and such other subjects. Dr. Michael Bowler, USA led the visiting students. Professor Haroun Er Rashid, Director, School of Environmental Science and Management (SESM), IUB was the Country Programme Director.

Vice Chancellor of IUB Prof. Bazlul Mobin Chowdhury hosted a reception for the HECUA group at a local hotel on behalf of the University. Mr. Wajid Ali Khan Panni, Vice-Chairman of IUB Ttrust, Prof. B.M. Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Haroun Er Rashid, Director, SESM and Dr. Michael Bowler, team leader of US delegation, addressed the visiting and IUB students at the reception The visiting delegation of American students, IUB Trust members, faculty, officials and students were present at the reception.
