UIU Open Day was all fun and game

UNITED International University celebrated third anniversary with a weeklong colourful event from September 3 to September 8. The event tiled UIU open day 2006, featured: UIU Banglalink table tennis championship, 2nd UIU debate championship 2006, game show, IT fair, Drama, Photography exhibition, Electronics and Information Science fair 2006.

74 students from 15 private universities participated in the UIU Banglalink table tennis championship in three categories: men's group category, men's double category and men's single category.

In men's group category UIU got beaten by Brac University, in men's double category Brac University won by beating UIU 3-1 in final and in men's single category UIU again was beaten by Brac university. So all the championship trophies went to Brac University.

UIU debate championship featured performances by 96 participants from 32 universities. Buet's Nandanik became champion by beating Rokeya bitorko. The title of best speaker went to Shubarthi Barua.

One of the main attractions of UIU Open Day was Electronics and Information Science fair. Students of UIU demonstrated many science projects related to modern day demands. Among them water level indicator, automatic industrial cooling system, low cost instantaneous power supply and electronic devices controlled with remote were the finest works.

UIU drama club staged a play Malua on the occasion. Directed by Rumana Rahman, the play was wonderfully pulled off by the students of the university.

Organised by UIU photography club the photography exhibition featured photographs of five UIU students Topu, Dablo, Lili, Behesti and Khaled.

Other events of UIU open day included film show, blood donation and cultural programme.
