Career Development and Job Fair: dreams can come true

Kazi Ahmed Farhan

Knowledge gives immense power to the students. But acquiring knowledge without implementing it in the practical sphere is like wasting time in vain. To strengthen the knowledge, the students should not only limit themselves in reading text books and related materials but also should know how to use effectively from the real world people who are experienced in their endeavor.

Being a student of BBA Programme, I always try to maintain a criterion to shape up my career. But I have the lacking that I don't know very much about the Multinational Companies, Local Companies as well.

Career Development and Job Fair will make a strong step ahead by providing personal interaction between the students and the corporate houses. This programme will help the students to build a positive mentality to do things as they want, can gain their confidence, sharpen communication skills more and more.

To make this program successful, our Dean sir, Chairman sir, Afjal sir, Shah sir, Sharif sir along with a lot of teachers helped us in different ways. HR head and Marketing Managers of different organisation made the way easy for the organisers to organise the programme. Organisers put a tremendous effort to make this programme happen.

This programme should be arranged in regular intervals so that the students of all discipline can set the goals of their lives and achieve those goals.

Bangladesh - Do we really care?

Samantha Saberin

Bangladesh is the name, the honour, the liberty, the responsibility and a little piece of land to call our own in this huge world. We all know how much this nation had to sacrifice for all of these, but can we fully comprehend it?

Now we are in a new era, new generation, with new rules and new thoughts. But how much do we understand the pain it caused to those who had lost their loved ones? Do we understand what they have gifted us with?

In my opinion, we only study for our exams and try to get good marks by using big words about the sacrifices of the great citizens of this country. But how much do we understand? - Nothing! Sometimes I feel we should have been the most renowned nation in this whole world for our great history. Yet people all around the world hardly know about it. It is most embarrassing for us to be known as the champions in corruption! But my question is- “Is it the fault of the country which was achieved after so much bloodshed and sacrifice?” I cannot agree with that, because the main problem is “we” - we think about 'us' only! We think about how to live a better life. We want to be happy with a great job, great salary, great home, great everything…but we forget the responsibility towards this country, to make it a better place to live in and to make Bangladesh a place we can be proud of.

I shared these thoughts with some people I know and all of them agreed that I am crazy and that I am dreaming something impossible! But how can it be impossible? How can we forget that we had nothing but the language and the solidarity to gain ourselves an independent land to live in by our own rules? Why would we be accepting wrong things despite knowing that it is wrong? Our ancestors gave us a land we could call our country, but what are we preparing for our future generation? A defeated, corrupted country with no future?

We are not a weak nation and we have proved it from time to time. Why can't we prove it again by making our country a paradise on earth?

I don't know how much I would be able to make a difference here, but I believe I can do it and I will try!! But only one person cannot call for a revolution, all of us have to think about the past, present and future of this nation and the country- “Bangladesh”.
