Battle of Minds-
BAT's talent promotion programme

As part of its commitment to the education sector of the country, British American Tobacco Bangladesh (BAT)is going to organize a talent promotion programme titled Battle of Minds on 9 December 2006. This initiative was taken by BAT on 2004 with a mission to strengthen the company's partnership with the education sector as well as reinforcing British American Tobacco's image as the employer of choice for the young graduates of Bangladesh. The Daily Star will be the media partner.

RUET admission test held
The admission test of the 2006-2007 session of the Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) has been held recently. A total of 3930 students appeared in the exam against some 485 seats.
The results will be announced on December 10.

Round Table discussion at IUB
The development studies group of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) organised a Round Table discussion session on December 2. The topic of the event was "Is Good Governance Practicable in Bangladesh." The event was held at the IDB Bhaban. It was well attended by educationists, prominent citizens and media personalities.

NSU Proctor passes away

Mr. G.M.A. Quesem, North South University Proctor, died of non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma (a form of cancer) at Apollo Hospital in Kolkata. He breathed his last at 11:30 PM on 24 November.
Mr. Quasem was an outstanding teacher with exceptional ability and skill, teaching expertise and talent. He was admired as much for his genuine care and concern for the well being of his students. His student evaluation and peer review were uniformly superior.
He is survived by his wife and two children, parents, siblings, relatives, and students and colleagues to mourn the sad and untimely demise.

Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) to hold AUST Electrical days '06

Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) will be holding a three daylong event from February 8 to February 10. The programme is called 'AUST Electrical days '06 '. First two days of the programme will feature Electrical Fair, Project display by students of various universities and science clubs, Quiz contest, Gaming contest and Seminars.
The Electrical Fair will contain technology fair, job fair and other different events. Electrical and Electronics equipment related companies, Computer Firms, Internet Service providers, Technical Institutions and other related organisations are expected to participate in the fair.
One of the main attractions of the event will be the Project display. Participants will exhibit their innovativeness and technical skills by displaying their self-implemented projects. All the projects will be evaluated by an expert panel of judges.
The Quiz contest and the Gaming contest both events will be open for all. Anyone will be able to participate in them. The winners will be announced on daily basis and attractive prizes will be given.
The Seminars will focus on to different contemporary aspects of the electrical community and discuss them.
The prize giving ceremony and the cultural programme will be held on the third and final day of the event.
A blood donation programme will be held at AUST campus at 9:00am on the third day and final day of 'AUST Electrical days '06'.

AIUB organizes workshop on SPSS
A special workshop on SPSS was held in the auditorium of AIUB on 27th November, 2006. Students of the research methodology course was introduced to the various applications of SPSS for enhancing their business and social research. The keynote speaker was Mr. Nisar Ahmed, the co-ordinator of the office of planning department and faculty member of school of business. Among the other experts Mr.Mehdi Hasan and Mr. Buddha Dev Biswas were also present in the workshop.
