We won the prize!

We won the prize. Yeah, we actually won it! Nobeljoyi Muhammad Yunus Shangbardana Parishad chittagong organized a inter university debate competition from 12-14 February, 2007.We, Chittagong University Debate Team beat the other universities in different rounds. We also staged the biggest upset when we beat IUB in the final while opposing the motion “Foreign aid is the main obstacle to development of third world.” M.A.Samad Hemal,who led the opposition bench became the best speaker while other members were Probir Borua Chy and Badruduzah Jewel.

Dr.M.Bodiul Alam,Vice Chancellor of Chittagong University, moderator professor Dr. Mahbubul Haque and president Mr. Tajul Islam of Chittagong University Debating Society congratulated the winners and all participating teams.

But the big excitement came when we went to M.A.Aziz Stadium to receive the award from the Nobel laureate professor Muhammad Yunus. It was the day to recall. On 16th December we, along with our friends, fan and well-wishers headed towards M.A. Aziz Stadium at 3pm. When we reached the venue there was already a big crowd. A lot of eminent persons were on the stage. They advised us to do something for the mankind. Finally it was time to announce the winner's name before the speech of Dr.Yunus. Amidst thousands of throbbing hearts and an intense atmosphere of anticipationthe verdict began… …..and the winner is Chittagong University!

It was a moment of truth, a time to rejoice in the triumph of success. We were asked to go near the stage. We listened to Dr. Yunus and waited eagerly to take the award from Dr. Yunus.

When we finally stood up on the stage, the big crowd was cheering for us. We could hear our friends from our university singing a chorus “cuds!”(Chittagong University debating society). We then shook hands with Dr.Yunus ! He congratulated us and told us the secret of his success, “When you think something, think big.” Then we took snaps with him!

It is one of the memorable moments of our life. We shall never forget it in our whole life.
