Baishaki
The Wall Paper to commemorate Baishakh

Md Nazrul Islam

When BBA students became too work-oriented, with no time for extracurricular activities, someone proposed publishing a wall magazine on the occasion of Pahela Baishakh. Everybody agreed to this and the editorial board was formed, with me as the chief editor. First we informed our honorable chairman Dr Abu Taher for his consent. Fortunately we got it and decided to create a big white board for our wall magazine. We also decided that the 3rd year management students will be organizers but it will be open for all Chittagong University students. Wes selected the topics and made the notices. Students responded within a short time and submitted their scripts spontaneously.

After a few days, the editorial board called a meeting to decide the name of our magazine. A member proposed that our wall magazine's name be Baishaki, and everybody accepted this suggestion. We decided to unveil it on 15th April 2007.

One of our MBA students, Khairul Amin, decorated the board nicely. Our editorial board selected twenty articles. I was excited when I wrote the editorial. Our effort was dedicated to two late students of management family, Palash and Halim. This year Pahela Baishakh was a memorable day for Chittagong University students, because in its forty-year history this is for the first time that a cultural program was organized on the occasion of Pahela Baishakh. We were pasting all the selected articles on the board. Then we invited all the teachers and students to attend the inauguration program. Our chairman Dr Abu Taher launched the magazine. He urged the audience to forget all division and nourish our culture and dedicate ourselves to build a poverty free, corruption free and prosperous Bangladesh. A short discussion session was held. After the discussion session a colorful photo session was held.
