IBA Hostel team clinched 'IBA Cricket Tournament 2007' title
The two-week long 'IBA Cricket Tournament 2007' culminated in clinching the championship trophy by the Ex-IBAites, popularly known as IBA Hostel team.
The tournament started on April 22 and reached to its conclusion on May 5.The 7 teams of the tournament were four existing BBA batches (12th, 13th, 14th and 15th Batch), two existing MBA batches (40th and 41st Batch) and IBA hostel team consisted of alumni of IBA.
Teams were divided into two groups. BBA 13th, 14th, 15th and MBA 41st were in Group A and BBA 12th, MBA 40th and IBA Hostel team were in Group B. In the group round, MBA 41st and IBA Hostel were the group champions and BBA 15th and MBA 40th moved to the semifinal as the group runners-up. In the 1st semifinal, IBA Hostel beat BBA 15th by 8 wickets and MBA 41st won against MBA 40th by 20 runs in the 2nd semi-final.
On May 5, the final match between MBA 41st and IBA Hostel team started at 12.30pm at Jagannath Hall playground. MBA 41st scored 127 runs for 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Defending champion IBA Hostel team easily reached the target only losing 2 wickets and bagged their consecutive second championship trophy.
The Director of IBA, Professor Muhammad Ziaul Haq Mamun and Lecturer Shama-E-Zaheer were present in the final match and distributed prizes among the winners.
As the organizer, we would like to congratulate the IBA Hostel team for their outstanding performance. Our special thanks goes to Virgin Company for providing us soft-drinks in this scorching heat; last but not the least actual credit goes to all the IBAites for their warm presence in the field to make this tournament a success.
