AKTEL - Drishty Debate
Championship

The 'AKTEL Debate Championship, 07' was organized by Drishty Chittagong. The one week long program included 7th inter school English debate competition and 1st Inter university English debate competition.

Nine best English medium schools of the port city Chittagong took part in this competition including William Carey Academy, Summerfield School, Bay View School, Cider International School, Radiant School, Green Vale School, Chittagong Sunshine School, Oxbridge School and Gems English Medium School, After completing 1st round Bay View School, Summer Fields School, Cider International School, and William Carey Academy were selected as four semifinalists.

Drishty also organised 1st Inter-university English debate competition for the very first time in Chittagong. The University of Chittagong, CUET, USTC, Independent University, Bangladesh, International Islamic University, Chittagong, Premier University and BGC Trust University took part in this competition.

The semi final of school debate was held on 16th May. In this round William Carey academy beat Bay View School and Cider International School beat Summer Fields School and reached the final. The grand final of this competition was held on 18th May at the hall room of Hotel Peninsula. The best debater selection round was held which was presided over by Dr. Mahmud A. Chy Arju. Safkat Fahmid, debater of Cider International School became the debater of the year, 07.

The next round was the Final of Inter-university Debate which was presided over by Dr. Mohit Ul Alam, writer and teacher, English Dept, Chittagong University. In this debate the wining team was University of Science and Technology (USTC). The debaters are Afroza Sultana and Yakub Ali. The 1st runner up team was Chittagong University represented by Nasir Uddin and Jewel Chy. The 2nd runner up team was IUB represented by Tajrian Shahid and Salman Jahir.

Professor Sikander Khan, president, Bangladesh Economics Society Chittagong chapter, was present as chief guest at the award giving ceremony. Mr. Farid Ahmed Chy. Chief advisor of Drishty Chittagong, presided over the program. Mr. Abul Momen, Resident Editor of Prothom Alo, Mr. Javed Tariq, Head of corporate affairs, TM international BD Ltd., Mr. Masud Bakul, president Dist Chittagong and Mr. Saif Chy. General secretary Drishty Chittagong spoke on this occasion.
