1st Anniversary of Star Campus
Greetings from noted personalities...... I read Star Campus regularly with interest. Keeping pace with the creativity and uprightness of The Daily Star, this baby magazine is bound to reach the top. And on behalf of Dhaka University, I would happily extend my wholehearted cooperation anytime.

Happy Birthday, Star Campus! It's really encouraging to see students getting interested in what's going on in the academic world, thereby sharing current news, views, and trends with their peers as well as the rest of society. As an instructor, I like reading about programs that other universities around the city are hosting, but what interests me the most is discovering which of my many students are forming rock bands, performing on stage, or spreading their talent to other parts of the globe. Although I always ask them what's up, they are too shy to give me all the juicy details about their hip and happening lives. So, thanks, Star Campus, for revealing some of their secrets to me!

Star Campus has been a wonderfully unique enterprise in linking the youths of the campuses across the country. It has let the students, teachers and other enthusiasts speak out / ventilate their words and ideas on different issues related to study and studentship along with other relevant events. It is a true mouthpiece of the students and other enthusiasts! We, the readers, congratulate all concerned, and wish a steady progress of the magazine and indeed a very Happy Birth anniversary to Star Campus! Three cheers!!!

Congratulation on the first anniversary of the publication of “Star Campus”- the first magazine specifically dedicated to the academia and the young mind. I have always found
Star Campus informative and fascinating, pulsating with the vigour of life and new ideas, and have read and re-read some articles in it with animated zeal. I wish the Star Campus well and wish that it can some day graduate into an independent magazine.

I am delighted to notice that a leading English newspaper of the country is publishing a weekly magazine focusing on campus issues and issues related to student affairs. This acted as a forum for the young minds of different academic institutions belonging to different disciplines and backgrounds, to interact with each other and express their views. The wide ranges of issues that has been covered in the last one year, testifies that it is filling up the vacuum that existed so far in this regard. But I also feel that there is much scope for improvements in terms of identifying issues to be covered and also the quality of write-ups. At last I congratulate 'Star Campus' on its completion of one year.

"I think it's a wonderful opportunity that Star Campus is creating for the students of our country. Up until now all the campus-based magazines projected the comical and humorous sides; but Star Campus for the very first time is covering important issues and at the same time making a platform where students can learn and have fun at the same time.
Most students these days don't understand the values and culture of our country. They are becoming, what I would say, "educated urchins". It is very important to incorporate discipline in their lives to make better human beings out of them. My message for the campus readers would be to understand and appreciate our moral values and keep reducing this gap that we have in our generation through understanding each other more."

"I congratulate this new venture as it is in a process of becoming if not in a state of being. I would like to see more critical writings on the education system of Bangladesh which, I think is not yet pro-people. It would be more useful if 'Campus' arranges round tables on the education system, addressing how this system keeps reproducing and even strengthening our class-divided society.''

From the very beginning, "Star Campus" has set a stage for the youths to express what they feel, what they want, what they do. Surely it is a great step to give the youth a chance to explore their qualities. The Daily Star authorities did a wonderful job in this regard by giving a chance to the youth. I am wishing them on completing a successful journey of one year. But this is not enough. They have a long way to go to help the youths express themselves, who are the potential leaders of the country.

I am happy to know that “Star Campus” has already completed one year of its publication. The “Star Campus” has created an avenue to express the voice of the students. None has set such an opportunity for the students to express their ideas, problems and expectation to the society. As such, the “Star Campus” is a unique avenue in this connection.
Our students have glorious past history. They are the potential architects of this nation as well. They were the major forces of all revolutions and movements in our country. A large number of students have good future plans and dreams to build Bangladesh into a corruption free and developed nation. Star Campus has been disseminating their opinion, ideas, and dreams for last one year. This magazine has also bridged the gap between the senior think tanks and the new generation who are emerging to be leaders of the society. I expect a long life and unbounded success of this magazine.
Dr. Md. Afzal Hossain

My sincerest congratulations to Star Campus on completing their first year of publication. I commend the editorial staff on an excellent publication which within a very short period of time has managed to become the "must read" forum for higher education issues and activities. Keep up the good work!!!

Since its inception, "Star Campus" has been striving to put all its efforts to link educated and creative young minds together. During its journey of one year, it has presented itself to be a strong foothold for the young talents residing in the campuses of different educational institutions around the country and thus "Star Campus" has emerged as the "voice of the campus" of today. On its passage, it has generated lots of new talents through the exploration of their inherent potentials and has created a strong shed for the young stars to resume their thoughts together. When we seek cooperation, "Star Campus" generously stands by us in the organisation of "Career Fair" or seminar or orientation programme, lecture series or even course completion ceremony. I feel "Star Campus" to be a bridge connecting the department to the business world through the publication of such extra curricular activities to expose the young talents thereon. I wish all the very best to "Star Campus". Happy birthday to you "Star Campus".
Dr. Samir Kumar Sheel
Associate Professor, Department of Marketing, DU
First of all, my congratulations to Star Campus on this occasion of crossing their first year. The first year is the hardest, because whatever your plans are, the ground realities sometimes are very different, and I could see that Star Campus in the beginning was struggling. It was mostly formless and the standard was very uneven. Some contributions were very disappointing. It seemed to me that it was lacking an order or efficiency. But soon I saw that Star Campus has left that problem behind and has grown into an organic entity. And soon it could understand the rhythm of the campus life in Bangladesh and connect with it.
Now that connecting with the rhythm life has enabled it to really put a finger on the pulse. And anything happening anywhere in the campus is represented in the pages of the Star Campus. The standard and style has improved. Some contributions are very readable.
Of course, a lot has to be done. Everyone has to be on guard for any possible mistakes, editorial mistakes conceptual mistakes. Sometimes there is a tendency to go on with one thing again and again. Sometimes ideas are not also adequately presented. I don't see any representation from colleges. Everything is from only from public and private universities. There are so many colleges where Masters Programs are running. And I think they also deserve to be represented contributions. It's not a caveat, rather an honest appreciation and expectation about future.
It has a very young team working in a very dedicated fashion. It has got some very good dedicated readers. I can see people enthusiastically reading and checking things on Star Campus. The young crowd today is very dynamic, very demanding, very impatient and very conscious of themselves. And Star Campus somehow is tuning up to the demands. So that it I hope Star Campus will grow from time to time and strength to strength.
And as it grows, it will have more responsibilities. It has to have a very clean and tidy house first. A house not in order is something, which cannot be leaving for flawless. I can see that Star Campus ten years from now on will not only be a magazine but a source of national inspiration.

Professor, Department of English; University of Dhaka
I found The Daily Star very objective and the only newspaper that does not hesitate to admit if they make any mistake. About Star Campus, I must say that it has been a laudable step taken by The Daily Star because of its effort to project the campus life. And being the teacher and Dean of the Arts Faculty, I can give my best wishes to them because through this magazine people are aware of what is going on in the campus.
Civilization of a country depends on the campus life. People have the right to know about universities especially about public universities because the university is running with their tax paid money and we are accountable to them. People can tell us when we are wrong. Newspapers, particularly ones like the Star Campus, have a great role to play.
I think it is a wonderful effort to influence students and academics to write. I can understand it requires a lot of trouble to make them write because we are all lazy people.
And I wish all the best to the Star Campus and the Star Campus team for the successful completion of 1 year publication and I hope it gets better day by day.
Dr. Sadrul Amin
Dean, Faculty of Arts; Professor, Department English, University of Dhaka
Firstly, my congratulations to the Star Campus magazine. My expectation from Star Campus is simple: keep sharing all the recent news of the universities that would increase more interaction among university students. However, I can see Star Campus performing that role nicely. So the private universities are getting the chance to know about public universities and vice versa. They should be able to share the benefits and deficits they are enjoying from their institutions.
Besides, Star Campus can play the post-education career developing role for the students. Star Campus can publish notes or comments of the specialists and the established persons. It could be done not only for the university students but also for the medical colleges and Engineering universities. Star Campus should cover colleges who offer graduate and post graduate degrees. They need to focus on reputed institutions such as Dhaka College and Eden College. I wish success to the Star Campus and the Star Campus team in their upcoming future.

On the eve of the one-year successful publication of the daily star supplementary Star Campus magazine I wish them my regards. Star campus reflects the activities that are going around in the public and private universities with regard to co-curricular activities as well as academic activities. And it turns out to be a focal point for many institutions for revealing their excellences showing their quality of education and quality of other creative activity. On this background, Star Campus turns out to be a really interesting magazine for lot many academics and learners. I wish they will continue their successful publication in future.

It is with great pleasure that I extend my warmest wishes on the occasion of the First Anniversary of the Star Campus, a weekly publication of the Daily Star. Star Campus took a remarkable initiative to link the young minds of Public and Private Universities together, creating a splendid opportunity to achieve a common forum for all. This is the day to celebrate that initiative, followed by achievement. Star Campus boasts a proud history of one year in equipping University students throughout our nation with the necessary information to bring perfection in all aspects of their academic life. I am confident this tradition will continue for years to come.
My heartfelt congratulations for the first one year and wishing great success for the next 100 years.

The first year anniversary of the Daily Star supplementary campus magazine Star Campus is a wonderful occasion. The presentation of the magazine is very beautiful. Whenever I get the Star Campus magazine in my hand I read it seriously. Our knowledgeable colleague Father Tim is a very good appreciator of the magazine. Whenever he finds any good article in it, he draws my attention.
I wish you all the success.

Star campus is an amazing magazine. It brings a new dimension in the journalism trends of Bangladesh as it covers wide areas for the students including career development, student counseling, preparation of students for the twenty-first century and transformation towards human capital. This magazine is a self reliant to motivate students through bridging the gap between global views with local thinking - keeping alive our long cultural heritage as well as rhythm of the independence from the core of the heart. As such, on the 1st anniversary of publication of Star Campus -I want to congratulate all its staff, associates and editor for their wonderful and precious work. I hope they will keep up the present zeal and endeavour to keep the team spirit high so that publication of Star Campus continues in future.

What could be better than trying to picture Youth in its best letters! Campus talks of the tomorrow people and their perspectives and therefore it help others consider alternative views and find a common platform. Using young hands to shape features, reports et al goes to prove that Campus will, in time, largely contribute to the journalistic roadmap of South Asia.

'It seemed to me as an uncertain start but it is now really picking up pace by welcoming debates on heavy weight issues like the public and private university phenomenon. Earlier, for whatever reason it might be, Star Campus seemed to be more on the side of private universities as these universities got maximum coverage. Gradually things have changed and Campus is sincerely working hard to focus on numerous public institutions around the country. I think Campus should not only vow to link young minds but also encourage in many ways to help these young people in learning to become responsible adults. I hope Campus will continue to have more interesting columns on our education system, student activities, innovative teaching methods and student scholarship to broaden the scopes of the students. Congratulations!

As a regular reader of Star Campus, I find this magazine extremely useful, especially for students and teachers of higher educational institutions in Bangladesh and also abroad. The students and teachers have a forum to exchange their ideas and thoughts. The readers can also learn about what is happening in the domain of universities and colleges in Bangladesh. It is heartening to know that Star Campus is celebrating its anniversary. I wish the editor, the contributors and the student-teacher and other contributors of Star Campus my heartiest congratulations. Wish you all the very best. Keep up your good work.
