Citi Financial Quiz Competition 2007 NSU- The Champions!

It was an exciting finale with a tie-breaking session where fate had its final say for North South University . They justifiably emerged as the champions of the Citi financial Quiz Competition 2007 that was held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre on September 02, 2007. They were awarded a US$3000 grand prize, with each team member winning US$1000 each. The winning team, led by Tauhid Jalil had Saiful Anam and Saiful Islam as the team members. The runners up Jahangirnagar University team was led by Ahmed Reza with team members Md. Mehasan-Al-Rashed and Kamrul Hasan Choudhury.

Dr. A. B. Mirza Mohammed Azizul Islam, Adviser, Ministries of Finance, Planning, Commerce, Posts and Telecommunications, was present as the chief guest and gave away the prizes among the two teams. After the highly competitive preliminary, quarterfinal and semifinal rounds between business school students of twelve reputed public and private universities in the country, the competition culminated in the final round. The participating universities were: Jahangirnagar University , Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Rajshahi University , Chittagong University , University of Development Alternatives , Stamford University , Daffodil International University , American International University-Bangladesh, Independent University Bangladesh , BRAC University , East West University and North South University .

Citi Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Citigroup, funded the Financial Quiz Competition as part of an ongoing vision to promote financial education, and was locally organized by Citibank, N.A. Bangladesh in collaboration with North South University . All the rounds were telecast on Channel I and the final was telecast live with simultaneous transmission on Radio Foorti being the media partners.

For guiding the questions and moderating the whole contest, there was a separate, independent Jury Board consisting of the most trusted and famous names like Khondoker Ibrahim Khalid; Prof. Rahim Baksh Talukder (moderator of the Jury board), Vice Chancellor, Eastern University; Mr. Syed Abu Naser Bukhtear Ahmed (Moderator, Jury Board), MD and CEO, Agrani Bank; Adeeb H. Khan (Moderator, Jury Board) Partner, Rahman Rahman Huq; Prof. Imran Rahman, Director, School of Business, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh; Mr. Yawer Saeed, MD and CEO, AIMS of Bangladesh; Ms. Selima Ahmed, Executive Director, Women Chamber of Commerce and Industries; Ms. Johora Bebe, Senior Executive Vice president, One Bank; Mr. Arif al Islam, Finance Director, Grameen Phone; Mr. Ashfaque ur Rahman, MD, Novartis Bangladesh Ltd; and Mr. M. Azizul Huq, MD, Glaxosmithkline Bangladesh Ltd.
