Education tour of Southeast University

School of Science and Engineering faculty of Southeast University organised Education Tour-2008 at Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development (BARD), Comilla on January 26, 2008 as part of their extra curricular Activities. On this occasion different Cultural competition was held between the students, faculty members and students of Zhejiang Gongshang University of China.

Southeast University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. M. Shamsher Ali, Director General BARD, Registrar of SEU Md. Aftabuddin Khan, Dean of the School of Science and Engineering Prof. Dr. R. I Sharif, Chairman Dept. of Textile Engineering Prof. Syed Fakhrul Hasan, Chairman Dept of Pharmacy Prof. Dr. Nazrul Qais Prof. Dept of Textile Engineering Dr. Engr Ayub Nabi Khan, Coordinator of the Textile Engg. Dept. Mr. A.N.M. Ahmed Ullah were present in the program. Six hundred partiicpants including 20 Students of Zhejiang Gonshan University of China, University officials, and students of science faculty participated in this Education Tour.

“Communicate smartly” was the motto of the seminar on “Effective Communication through Advertising” as East West University Creative Marketing Club (CMC) hosted on February 4, 2008 in association with Mediacom, a renowned advertising firm. The event was held at the EWU Auditorium. The President and the Vice-President of CMC, Satyajit Roy and A. M. Nuruddin Mahfuz respectively, welcomed the guests. The event was presided over by the club moderators, Mr. Farhan Faruqui and Mr. Nazmul Hossain.



Orientation programme at BAU

Orientation programme of the students admitted at six faculties of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) for the session 2008 (level-1, semister-1) was held at Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin auditorium on last Thursday.

Chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC) Prof Md. Nazrul Islam was the chief guest with Prof. Md. Nazmul Hasan, Student Affairs Adviser in the chair.

Vice-Chancellor of BAU, also chief patron of the ceremony Prof. Muhammad Mosharraf Hossain Miah, Convener of Dean Council and Dean of Animal Husbandry Faculty Prof. Dr. Syed Shakawat Hossain, Convener of Provost Council Prof. Dr. SM Rezaul Karim, BAU Register Md. Nazibur Rahman and Proctor Prof. Dr. M Harun-or-Rashid, among others spoke on the occasion.

In his speech Prof Md. Nazrul Islam said that investment in higher education should be increased to make the students ready for the present competitive world which is greatly connected with globalization. So, for a better success in the field of higher education, more investment is a must to cope with the advancing world.

BAU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Miah said the main aspect of BAU is to invent new technologies and serve the nation spreading these technologies throughout the country. He termed the BAU as one of oldest and most unique educational institutions of the country.




IUB Orientation Program of Master's in Environment Management

The growing degradation of environment due to water pollution, air pollution, noise pollution, industrial toxic substance, depletion of forest, dying up of rivers and water bodies and many other such negligence has caused problems leading to serious health hazards, fall of agricultural productivity, erratic weather etc. in Bangladesh. The consequences need to be mitigated and for that the country needs environmental experts to deal with the situation.

Among the speakers Prof Bazlul Mobin Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor, Prof Omar Rahman, Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. Haroun Er Rashid, Director, SESM, Prof M Ali Hossain, Coordinator of Environment Program, Dr Tanvir A Khan, Registrar spoke on environmental issues at the Orientation of the newly admitted students of Master's in Environment Science, held at Baridhara Campus on 30 January 2008.

Ms Shah Jerin Bashar, a student of the first batch, shared her experience regarding the high quality of teaching and research at IUB and laid importance on a Degree in environmental science in the present day job market.
