Drishty Debate Challenge 2008

DEBATERS of Chiitagong city spent a day with joy, excitement and logic. They expressed their opinions, proved their concepts and shared their ideas. It was Drishty Debate Challenge 2008. It was held recently at Regional Public Administration Training Centre. This daylong festive Debate competition was held in association with Sunshine Grammar School, Centre for Good Governance and Asia Electronics. Media Partners were Star Campus and the daily Purbokone.

1st inter Club Debate Competition, 8th Inter College Debate Competition and Inter School Public Speaking competition were organized as a part of this programme. Chittagong College, Mohsin College, Govt. Commerce College, Chittagong Govt. Girls College, Cant. Public College, Metropolitan Commerce College, Ispahani Public College took part in the Inter College Debate Contest. Chittagong University Debating Society, Drishty Debate Club, Tarkik Debating Society of IIUC, USTC Debate Club, CUET Debate Club, Premier University Debate Club, Purbokone-Drishty School of Debate, Rotaract Club of Chittagong University, Leo Club of Chittagong Imperial City, Procchaya Debate Club of Law were the participant Clubs.

Professor Syed Ahsanul Alam Parvez, Chairman, Center for Good Governance inaugurated the programme. Masud Bakul (President, Drishty, Ctg.), Saif Chowdhury, Rashedul Amin, Kasshaful Haq Shehzad also spoke on the occasion.

In the First Round CUET DC, CUDS, PUDS, USTCDC, Drishty-Finix and Drishty-Orko were the winners. Saber Shah, Rashedul Alam, Masudur Rahman, Jinia Akter, Jewel Chowdhury, Rezaul Karim became the Best Speakers.

In the college level, Chittagong College, Hazi Mohammad Mohsin College-1, Government Commerce College and Hazi Mohammad Mohsin College-2 promoted to the semifinal. Shahida Afrin, Irfan Zaman Nur, Farhana Binte Farid were the best Speakers of the first round.

“The present style of Democracy inspired Fanaticism”- was the topic of the final round of the Club Debate. Drishty Debate Club-Finix defeated CUETDC. Debaters of Champion team were Afsana toma, Saber Shah and Rubayat Shanta.Faisal Rabbi, Tonmoy Talukder and Sakib were the members of Runner Up team.

Hazi Mohammad Mohsin College became the Champion while Chittagong College clinched the Runner Up title of Inter College Debate. Irfan Zaman, Rafsan Rabbi and Muntasir Tahmid were the debaters of Champion team. Sadman Saika, Nusrat Shabnam and Shahida Afrin were runner up debaters.

Medina Ali of Mastermind International School and Farjin Hasan Moumita of Silver Bells became the Champion of Public Speaking Competition. Sakib (Ctg. Govt. High), Abir, Rukhsar Karim(CGS), Mahmudur Rahman(Cider), Ahmed Alvee (Cider) were the Runner Up debaters.

Judges of Different sessions were Dr. Masud Rana, Dr. Uditi Das, Moniruzzaman Bhuyia, Shahidul Islam, Mobassera Begum, Mominur Rahman.

Professor Sikandar Khan, President, Bangladesh Economics Society (Chittagong Chapter) distributed prize among the winners.
