UK University team Calls on BAU Vice-Chancellor

A three-member team headed by Dr. R. Anne Pearson, Senior Research Fellow from University of Edinburgh, UK, called on Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain during their visit at the Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU).

Welcoming the UK University team at his Office, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Akhtar apprised the academic research, extension and other allied fields of modern agricultural education of the University to the faculty members of University of Edinburgh and explored the possibilities of academic exchange program between the two universities in this age of Globalisation.

Professor Dr. Md. Ali Akbar, Dean, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, BAU and Professor Dr. M. Mokhtaruzzaman were present during the discussion meeting. Other Members of the team were Mr. Jack Aim and Steort Cromer, E-Learning Specialists of University of Edinburgh. Later, the faculty members and researchers from University of Edinburgh visited academic departments and laboratories of the University.

Ambassador Moriarty gives a speech at IUB

Ambassador Moriarty gave a very inspiring speech to the students of Independent University, Bangladesh on the 6th of November. She was the guest speaker on that day in the seminar series held by the Population department every Thursday. The seminar was held at the university premises, in Campus-5, Road no.14, Baridhara.

Her job has taken her to many different parts of the world and she talked about how the society, its structure and values of many countries have changed in front of her eyes. She gave many amazing examples of people from different regions that worked their way into achieving what they really want. She also talked about how the structure of the society was different than it is now. According to her, people really need to focus on what they want; they should try and visualize their goal and work towards it. She also spoke on the American Election 2009 and how the outcome of the election can be a source of inspiration to people all over the world. Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Omar Rahman, introduced Ambassador Moriarty and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Bazlul Mobin Choudhury spoke on the occasion. Dr. Rita Yousuf gave the vote of thanks.


DIU newsletter published

The second issue of the newsletter of Daffodil International University (DIU) has been published recently. It features many important events including DIU's second convocation, Sixth founding anniversary, Business festival 2008 and the launching of three departments -- Law, Journalism and Mass Communication, and Real Estate. It also covers 'Intellectual Discourse' jointly organised by DIU and the Daily Star; 'Say no to drug programme' jointly organised by DIU and the daily Prothom Alo and 'Campaign for Cox's Bazar and Sundarban' jointly organised by DIU and the daily Samakal. It features many other interesting items. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Aminul Islam formally accepted the copy of the newsletter at his office from the publisher Prof. Dr. Mizanur Rahman, Registrar of DIU, and the newsletter committee that includes Convenor Mr. Mohammad Sahid Ullah, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, and Co-convenor Dr. Binoy Barman, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of English.


SEU organizes seminar on “Doing Business with China”

School of Business Studies of Southeast University (SEU) organized a seminar on ”Doing Business with China” on November 6 at the seminar hall of the university. Prof Dr Wang Guo An, Vice director ,International Affairs, Zhejiang Gongshang University, China, presented a keynote paper at the seminar. Prof Dr Sayed Masud Hossain, Dean, School of Business Studies, was the chairman of the seminar. Prof Dr. M Shamsher Ali, Vice Chancellor, southeast university was present as the chief guest and Prof Abu Ahmed, Pro vice chancellor of SEU attended as special guest at the programme Dr. Helal Uddin Ahmed, Chairman, Department of Business Administration, also addressed the seminar. There was a question and answer session at the end of the seminar.

Mr. Wang Guo offered a scholarship to 22 student of SEU in his university for 15 days for the peupose of extending knowledge regarding trade in China.


SUST holds Inter-Department Handball Tournament-2008

The final match of the 'Inter-department handball Tournament-2008' between Chemical Engineering & Polymer Science (CEPS) & Industrial & Production Engineering (IPE) of Shahjalal University of Science & Technology, Sylhet, was held at University Handball Ground on November 5. CEPS department defeated IPE department by 2-1 goals. Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. M Aminul Islam was present at the final as chief guest. He distributed the trophies & medals. Professor Dr.M Habibul Ahsan , president of sports sub-committee, Professor Dr. Aktarul Islam dean, faculty of applied sciences, Professor Dr.Gulam Ali Haider Chouwdhory, proctor of university were present on the occasion.
